Why is it so hard to find chemical (paraben, sulfate, petroleum oil) free, dye free, soy free, (anything free for that matter!) body and hair care products specifically for kids?! I did all of the work for you and the hair care products for children I found are American-made too.
My five year old daughter, Sophie, is in the process of growing her hair long like Princess Rapunzel. Every morning, hair product is needed to tame the tangled mess on her head. I want to make sure that the hair products she is using every day are safe enough for her sensitive skin, and won't affect her long term health. Logan, my 7 year old son, is at an age where I am trying to teach him to be more independent in his morning and night time routine. I want him to use face and skin care products that will help relieve his dry skin patches, but not poison his body. Here are the American made body and hair care products for children that this green mama approves of.
Chemical free body and hair care products for children
Made in California, Original Sprout hair products were developed by a Master Stylist mom. All Original Sprout products are free of ingredients that are linked to cancer, and estrogen & hormone disruption, such as: phthalates, tea tree, petroleum oil, proplene glycol and sulfates. These products are great for kiddos with allergies and sensitivities as they are soy, dairy, honey and gluten free. The fragrance is made from natural extracts, and some of the ingredients are organic. Original Sprout products are safe enough for babies, and are professional enough for adults. The Natural Shampoo and Deep Conditioner have become MY favorite hair products! Sophie's hair has been more manageable and less frizzy. I have also noticed that the skin on her face has been less irritated since using these products so there could have been an ingredient in the previous products we used that bothered her sensitive skin.
Nature's Baby Organics carries a line of NSF Certified Organic labeled hair and body products. NSF certification is an organic certification process developed specifically for the cosmetic products industry. NSF has a Certified Organic category for ‘Contains organic ingredients'. A product can earn the NSF certification if it contains between 70% and 95% organic ingredients and the percent must be visible on the label. Nature's Baby Organics Face & Body Moisturizer became Logan's favorite daily use lotion. He loves that it is fragrance free and it has kept the dry spots on his face and body away. I like Nature's Baby Organics products because they are free of parabens, SLS, & propylene glycol. The Face & Body Moisturizer contains calendula which is an ingredient I always look for in lotions.
