NORTHEAST
Coolhaus Balsamic Fig and Mascarpone | Coolhaus
Coolhaus Balsamic Fig and Mascarpone is a unique ice cream flavor with a tangy, lightly sweetened, and creamy mascarpone-based ice cream mixed with California figs for the perfect added chewiness, and a burst of sweetness and finished with a balsamic glaze to add a more intense tang and sweetness to accompany the mascarpone and fig. It's a winner in our book. The brand makes its ice cream in New York City, and Los Angeles. This flavor was a Special Edition flavor that is no longer available, but Coolhaus has sooo many other awesome flavors to choose from, including dairy free options.
SOUTH
Bourbon Pecan | Honeysuckle Gelato
Honeysuckle Gelato Bourbon Pecan is a sweet marriage between two southern classics - bourbon and pecans. These ingredients are nicely mixed into a vanilla gelato, and swirled with caramel. Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip | Graeter's
Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, oh, my, goodness. You'll say the same when you try it. I already love black raspberry ice cream, and this is the best I've ever tried. The berry flavor is so true, and the chocolate is shaved just the right way so that it melts in your mouth. Graeter's ice cream itself is so rich and creamy, and it's no wonder because the first ingredient is cream. The company sources its cream and milk from Ohio dairies, which certify that they are free of artificial growth hormones. The ice cream is made in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Available to purchase through Goldbelly.
NORTHWEST
Sicilian Pistachio Gelato | Ciao Bella Gelato + Sorbetto
Ciao Bella Sicilian Pistachio Gelato is made with roasted and salted pistachios, and none of the fake green coloring. Unlike many pistachio ice creams, Ciao Bella's gelato has actual pistachios in it. It makes for the perfect crunch, texture, and flavor. Ciao Bella makes its gelato in Oregon.
Lemon Cake | HALO TOP
Believe the hype. I really wasn't sure what the expect when I tried Halo Top for the first time. It's 240 calories, 6 grams of protein, 2 grams of fat and and 4g* of sugar...in the ENTIRE container. How could it possibly be good, right? I was willing to try it, and boy, was I pleasantly surprised. The flavor and texture of Halo Top. It's like you're eating a mix of pudding and ice cream. {As it states on the container, you have to let is sit out to get to the right consistency, but it's well worth the wait.} The flavors are bright and true. The lemon cake was my favorite because it's so refreshing, and perfect for summer!
HALO TOP ice cream is made in California and can be found in stores across the USA. Dairy free options available.
Mango | Magnolia
Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero | Salt & Straw
Don't say ew. Salt + Straw Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero I know you just said, "Ew!". That's what everyone said BEFORE they tried it. This flavor is really the perfect mix of flavors - tangy, sweet, and spicy. The goat cheese offers a creamy, tangy taste, while the sweetness of marionberry and heat of the habanero are a delicate end on your tastebuds. Salt & Straw makes its ice cream out of Portland and Los Angeles.
Marionberry Pie | Tillamook

Schwan’s since 1952 – headquartered in Marshall, Minnesota
In Delaware, we love Woodside Farms. Fresh ice cream made on site with milk made from the cows you can visit right there in the fields. Life changing flavors, too!
Hello, Thank you for your article. There are some ice creams made in the northeast that are missing: Turkey Hill (PA), Breyers (PA), possibly Friendly’s – I’m not sure about that one, Leiby’s (PA), Yuengling (PA).
Which ice creams are made with HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP?
Isn’t Blue Bell originally from Brenham, Texas?
still is made in brenham texas. usa made and best icecream in the country. i was very disappointed it wasnt on this list.
BLUE BELL is practically a food group in Texas. Ice cream was off the menu in our Colorado home until it finally appeared on store shelves here. It was a day of great rejoicing. It deserves to be on any list of America’s best ice creams.
Wilkinson’s ice cream in Wyoming and Montana is what we enjoy on our vacations 🙂
sooo sweet! Ilove ice-cream
Each region, each with its cream and flavor, is a great summer drink and ice cream after hard work.
I agree with you, the ice cream looks great
I would like to try Magnolia Mango ice cream because it is made in Cali.
The Steve’s Cold-Brewed Cinnamon Coffee non-dairy frozen dessert made with coconut cream sounds really interesting. I’m trying to cut back on dairy and this sounds like it would be a nice alternative to regular ice cream.
I really like ice cream and gelato, but the ice creams and gelati sold at the grocery stores aren’t very good and the flavors are boring. The stuff sold in grocery stores tends to be too sweet and syrupy, not creamy, and with lots of ice crystals in it. I would love to try any of the products mentioned in the article above. Wish they were available in my local area.
These all sound amazing. I love all the new ice creams in the market. So many flavors, so little time.
I would be happy with any of these brands or flavors of ice cream. I would be very interested in the Steve’s Cold Brew Cinnamon Coffee .
I love ice cream. Some of these look really tasty too!
You are discussing packaged container product? Interesting as most regional ice cream favorites are bulk ice creak produced in house at famous dipping stores. But thats cool, glad you can enjoy it your way.
Woodside Farms in Delaware is the best!
I’d love to try Steve’s that in my region, and some of the others, too, I did not know they are made in the USA – I know I really need a good reason to treat myself and the gang to some ice cream – what could be better than this!
out of all the brands you tried we’ve only had the Sander’s brand, I believe Stroh’s was making it when we lived in Michigan. Our family loves ice cream and I purchase often, cookie dough is the fave for my hubby & son, my daughter goes for more fruit blends and coffee while I like the banana and cheesecake versions
I live in the Midwest and have seen and tried the Sanders ice cream and it really is quite good. My husband is aan ice cream fiend and he would go wild to try all of them.
Tillamook is the best!!!
I can genuinely say that I have never eaten such a delicious ice cream as Graether’s Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. It is obscenely tasty. Intensely rich flavors, excellent quality dark chocolate. Drove around Brooklyn one night for hours trying to find it!
Oh my, this would be worth a big road trip! I am loving the idea of the Tillamook Marionberry Pie Ice Cream. I love Tillamook for its cheese, so I would imagine the cream they use for their ice cream would be amazing!
I’ve gotta give it to the state of Oregon!!! Tillamook is so creamy and decadent!! Loved the Marionberry Pie and Black cherry!! To die for! Salt + Straw’s rhubarb pie was BALLER and their goat cheese marionberry habañero is the most complex and interesting ice cream I’ve had in my life! And everyone who tried it agreed.
