Are there any Grip socks made in the USA? Preferably cotton or cotton blend. I’m looking for socks that have grip for my Pilates and yoga classes. Thank you so much for this list is extremely helpful.
I am very persnickety about my socks. I need a thick soul and the upper’s to be like Dr Scholl’s socks. Ones that will stand up without putting rings around my lower leg. I had no hope of finding anything like that. Now I have options but you can’t tell what they are really like until you feel them. Does the textile industry have any place where the companies come together to show off their wears?
I did not realize that there were so many ‘made in the USA’ socks companies out there. I am very persnickety about my socks. I need a thick soul and the upper’s to be like Dr Scholl’s socks. Ones that will stand up without putting rings around my lower leg. I had no hope of finding anything like that. Now I have options but you can’t tell what they are really like until you feel them. Shepler’s (sheplers.com) sells Dan Post Cowboy Certified and Cowgirl Certified, which come with a “made in America” sticker and a good price. The “Boot socks” anyway, which are really hard to find America-made.
Bombas! Bombas! Bombas! Love my Bombas Running Calf socks. I’m 82 and on the Track 6x a week. Still doing Interval Drills 3x a week. My Bombas socks helps keep the old blood flowing upward.
Wheel House used to be made in Vermont and I have several pairs with bird designs. A firm in China bought the name and they are no longer made in the USA.

Thanks for making and sharing your lists.
I bought some Dead Soxy socks for Christmas and found the label to say “designed in Dallas, Made in China”! Imagine my disappointment!
Wonder if they changed this recently or if they’ve always been made in China.
Oh no! Thanks for letting us know. It does look like they switched manufacturers. I took them off our list.
I always put socks in the kids’ Christmas stockings. Great suggestions! Thanks!
What about Hippy Feet? I thought theirs were USA made. they’re the best but not on the list
Thank you Patrick, I added them to our list!
I’m disappointed to find that most of these products are not affordable for the average American. $17.00 for one pair of socks!? Am I missing something?
Um, what about Kentwool?
Thank you! Kentwool has been added to our list.
Thanks for the info.

Dannie, try Fox River Mills, Golden Natural Touch and Wigwam, all listed in this Guide. They have heavy socks that would fit American made work boots. We have a list for that too! Don’t miss it. https://www.usalovelist.com/mens-boots-made-in-the-usa/
Hi, I know someone looking to get socks made with their designs in the USA. Could you pls. recommend someone asap? Thanks, lARRY
Hi Larry,
Sunnyside Textiles makes some of the brands above. They are located in North Carolina and love working with small brands getting off the ground. http://www.sunnysidetextiles.com
I am always a seeker of socks… but alas, I am a Clydesdale, so I seldom find.
Do any of these sock companies make stylish, warm plus-size socks that can accommodate wider calves and women’s shoe size 10-11?
I love that Mitscoots helps the homeless!
Several of these are really cute. I need some warm socks right now, too, lol. I’ll check these out.
Such cute socks! My husband loves cute fun socks. He wears compression socks often and really finds some great relief from them. These would be perfect.
What about the Catawba merino wool socks made in North Carolina? I’m not sure whom sources them, but just heard of them & figured I’d ask. They’ve been around a very long time according to QVC with over 3 million sold….thoughts please? Thank you for this very informative article. Never tried compression socks as I tend to get a lot of Charlie horses in my calves & sit a lot more than I should. I’ll have to reasearch them & see what’ll suit me best, thank you!
I’m looking for wool socks, I believe, made in America, with a decal high up on the socks, sown in, looking like a man standing with a sombrero on his head and 3 rays of sun shining over the sombrero (in a complimentary color)…no name of any manufacturer in or on the socks. the decal, mentioned above, is only a little over 1 inch high…I picked these up from a reputable shoe store in Denver about 12-15 years ago. Any suggestion as to the manufacturer?
That is not ringing any bells, Suzanne. Perhaps try Point6, Farm to Feet or Swiftwick for wool socks made in the USA!
that would be Smartwool socks.
I am delighted to see Kate Williamson’s socks on the USA Love List! I love her socks, as does everyone to whom I’ve given them. My son even said,
“These are the best socks I’ve ever worn!”
You have a lovely selection of socks, but I cannot find short below ankle
socks in plain shades of beige, tan, off white, brown . . .many of us wear
earth colors and would like socks to match. Do you plan to manufacture
some in these colors in the future. Thank you.
I live in Idaho and buy Amelia’s Organic socks, made in the U.S.A. and distributed by Huffman Hosiery Mills, Inc in North Carolina. I have purchased and am very satisfied with their women’s crew style and knee high socks from Amelia’s.
Check them out at: http://www.Ameliasorganic.com
how about RedWing socks?
Maggie’s Organics is another great brand that is made in the USA. I have several pairs of their socks and love them! My husband and baby love their Maggie’s Organics socks as well.
I need children’s socks. I have several pairs of Mitscoots for myself and love them. But their kid socks are too big for my children, and their toddler socks are too small. I hope they fill the sizing gap soon!
I love this list! We also use made in the USA manufacturers, and appreciate you supporting their efforts!!
You have solved my big problem by telling me about best brands of USA socks. I always wear socks matching with my shoes or paints. Now I can buy different brands because before reading your post I didn’t know about these brands. Thanks for raising my knowledge.
FITS Socks are the best socks I’ve ever tried, and I have tried almost every sock on your list. Made in Tennessee!
http://www.fitssock.com
I agree FITS socks are brilliant, I have been using them for a good few years now. For me, living in UK I have to obtain them from the U.S. but it’s not a problem.
I get a big, warm hunting socks for cold East Coast winters from this small company who offers a USA made (Penna) “Superwarm” – they call it, Alpaca Sock. These are much better than the other stuff I’ve tried over the years and I’m happy to support small American businesses.
Wow, so many great USA made sock options! I can’t wear normal socks, but my husband wears socks out in about a week, so I am excited to learn about the “Darn Tough” company. I am headed there now, for some stocking stuffers.
Ahhh you are forgetting Fox River Mills! They make the original monkey socks to make sock monkeys and they are great work socks!!!
I was looking for Fox River socks too. They’re made in Iowa. I’m a fan of the comfort and quality. https://www.foxsox.com
